Patients may experience sensitivity or mild swelling changes after their procedure, though these side effects are usually temporary. Skinvive yields immediate results, though Dr. Valina advises patients to wait until any swelling has reduced before evaluating the changes in their appearance. The results from a Skinvive treatment may last up to six months until the hyaluronic acid is absorbed into the body, requiring additional treatment to recreate the same desired effect. Results and the frequency of touchup appointments may vary by patient.

Skinvive treatments are generally safe and well-tolerated by a majority of patients. However, the procedure is not without some risk. Patients may experience side effects such as the following:

Before Treatment:

• Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours
• Stop taking anything that could thin your blood such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for 3–5 days
• Stay well-hydrated

After Treatment:

• Avoid any alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours
• Do not rub, press, or massage the treated area
• Avoid direct sunlight, hot showers, and saunas for the first couple of days
• Sleep with your head elevated the night after treatment

After your Skinvive procedure, be gentle with your skin. You can use a cold compress to minimize swelling, but avoid touching or pressing on the treated areas. Stick to mild skincare products for a few days, and avoid active ingredients like retinol or acids until your skin fully calms. Follow any customized aftercare instructions provided by Dr. Valina to help maintain your refreshed look.

Yes, Skinvive can be safely dissolved using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. If for any reason you’re unhappy with your results or need an adjustment, Dr. Valina can use this treatment to reverse the effects.
